We Gave This Rockville Landscape A Makeover
Sometimes, it is just time for a fresh start. That is exactly what we did for this Rockville landscape. We had been working for this customer every spring for the last ten years doing their spring clean-up, pruning and flower planting. The landscape and walkway had probably been in place even longer than that and was starting to show its age. The old walkway was crumbling and narrow, the plantings had overgrown their spaces. It was time for a makeover for this Rockville landscape.
After discussing options with our customer, we settled on a wider, serpentine flagstone walkway that would gracefully open up the way to their front door. Walkways such as this are just nicer to come home to a greet guests warmly. We even designed in a great space to place a bench and some flower pots, creating an even nicer entry area.
A Tuscarora Crape Myrtle was used on the front right corner of the house to create a visual anchor for the landscape. Under it, edging stones create a nice contrast between the garden bed and the lawn. Other plants that were installed include Otto Luyken Cherrylaurel, Gold Thread Cypress, Helleborus and Endless Summer Hydrangea. Existing Liriope was divided and re-used.
Knowing that our customer liked flowers in their garden, we planned for several places to mass annuals. Massed annuals offer a very effective color display.
Finally, an area of river gravel was installed under a new Dwarf Globe Blue Spruce, together adding a unique texture and color combination.
Now that the project is complete, this new landscape and walkway should greet family and friends for years to come.
