Allentuck Landscaping Co. Installs 2017 Gardens For Grade Schools Grants

It was a hot day, but also a wonderful day as we installed this year’s Gardens for Grade School Grants at Dufief Elementary School in North Potomac, Maryland. Earlier in the day, our landscape crew installed an 8’x4’ cedar planter with perennials that attract butterflies; Coreopsis, Sedum, Echinacea and several other species.

After the installation was complete, over 80 second graders came out to see the new raised garden and to learn about butterfly gardens. Bruce Allentuck, President of Allentuck Landscaping Co. gave a short presentation about the new plants and why they are important to butterflies. The students, having just completed their butterfly unit, clearly knew their stuff.

Allentuck Landscaping Co.’s Gardens for Grade School Grants is an annual program designed to introduce grade school students to the joys of gardening and to encourage them to spend time outside.
