The Allentuck Team Transformed This Rockville, MD Home with a Complete Patio Remodel

At Allentuck Landscaping Company, we’re proud of the work we do, and we’re truly committed to our motto of Improving Lives Through Landscaping. Nothing makes us happier than totally transforming an outdoor space and leaving our clients delighted. To share our favorite projects, we’re starting a Project Spotlights blog series, which will be our space to highlight some of the incredible work we’ve done over the years.

In today’s spotlight, we’re taking a look at a full patio remodel we completed in Rockville, MD. This home’s outdoor space went from simply being a backyard with a new pool to a fully custom-designed outdoor oasis. Let’s take a look!

Background and Client: A Retired Rockville Couple

For this project, we had the pleasure of working with a wonderful pair of people, a retired couple who had settled in Rockville, in the northwest portion of the DC Metro. They were referred to us by a friend and were already familiar with our company—after all, they’re located not far from our own headquarters!

The Project: A Full Rockville, MD Patio Build

Our clients were planning to add a pool to their backyard, but they wanted more space for their grandkids and family to enjoy. Their vision was to use their outdoor space to entertain friends, play cards, and relax in comfort outdoors.

Their vision for their home included many elements that our team would incorporate into our design. Our clients listed desires for a patio, water features, plants and lighting, and even a complete outdoor kitchen. With the project scope agreed to, our talented design team got to work!

Starting the Transformation

With our design approved, our team got to work. First we pulled various permits that would be needed to cover all the different elements of the patio design. This included permits for the new patio and deck, as well as gas and water permits for the new grill and sink in the cabana kitchen.

Aside from the pool itself, the Allentuck team took care of every aspect of this expansive project. This included a paver patio around the pool (and a waterfall flowing into it!), a new deck, a full outdoor kitchen, a cabana with a fireplace and bar, walkways, plants, outdoor lighting, and tons of drainage work to ensure the overall integrity and longevity of the design.

Our team used several trusted brands for various aspects of this project. Nicolock was our choice for both the main patio pavers and the planks inside the cabana. Meanwhile, stone elements such as the column, bar, and the wall up to the deck used Carderock from Tri-State Stone, a local supplier.

Ultimately, our team touched nearly every corner of the yard aside from the turf itself.

The Result: Achieving Our Clients’ Vision

Our team truly came together for this project, as this went beyond the average patio build here in Rockville, MD. Project manager Felipe had his hands full throughout, Jesus took charge of the crew, and founder Bruce Allentuck handled the design for this outdoor space

We also solved various challenges along the way, including managing the weight of the kitchen on the deck, getting various elevations right, planning drainage throughout the design, and of course putting the many moving parts of this project in the proper sequence.

Yet despite all of this planning, it’s all worth it to get such a glowing review from our client:

“We are extremely happy with the results. Bruce was very easy to talk to and helped us to make the best decisions possible in every part of the remodel. Each of the additional features enhanced the value of our project and the beauty and usability of our back yard. […] We appreciate all of the effort that Allentuck put into creating the best possible backyard for our family and friends. I can highly recommend using his company for projects big and small.”

Thank you for the recommendation, and for being such wonderful clients throughout this project.
