It Was A Busy Fall Building Backyard Patio Projects

It has been a busy fall at Allentuck Landscaping Co. We have had the opportunity to design and build some wonderful outdoor spaces for our customers. It always makes us happy to know we are helping these families spend quality time outdoors. Here are some of our recent backyard patio projects.

Flagstone Patio In Kentlands – Gaithersburg, Maryland

This patio living space was designed by our Landscape Designer Karen Cline. The patio surface is Pennsylvania flagstone set on a gravel and stonedust base. We faced two challenges in this backyard, grade changes and a very large tree. We were able to mitigate the grade changes by gently sloping the patio over the expanse of the patio. In order to work around the tree and garden area was created around its base. A block planter was added along the side of the garage both to expand seating potential and to soften the look of the garage wall itself.

Dual Use Brick Paver Patio in North Farm – Rockville, Maryland

This was a fun project involving several different materials. It was designed by Bobby Sullivan and involved creating two unique spaces. One for dining and the other for simply sitting around chatting or enjoying a fire pit. For this living space, stone steps were built at the rear door. They open up to a serpentine patio of Nicolock Stoneridge pavers. A stone seat wall was added to increase seating.

A Brick Paver Patio and Stairs – Clarksburg, Maryland

Sometimes getting to a patio can be a challenge and this project was no exception. With a raised house floor elevation, this project required a large set of steps to be built out of Belgard Celtic wall blocks down to the patio build out of Belgard Holland Pavers. The patio is large enough for entertaining and intimate enough for a family dinner. A seat wall matching the stairs nicely frames the patio.

A Special Living Space – Frederick, Maryland

Grade changes and a swale made this backyard living space unique but Tim Carbis designed a winner. In this case, the sitting area is set on a pea gravel base with a flagstone linking the separate garage to the home. The grade change was solved by installing a stack stone wall and using Techo-Bloc Rocka Steps. River Gravel was placed in the swale to handle water when it rains and beautiful plants compliment the entire project.
