Sunrise At Arlington

Sunrise at Arlington National Cemetery is a special time. There is a beauty in it that is simple which is very appropriate for such a meaningful place. I have had the opportunity to view many sunrises there, even one from the Tomb of the Unknowns with only the Old Guard sentry as company. It is a time to reflect on the meaning of these grounds. For the past ten years

July Stuff To Do

Happy Fake Friday and Happy Birthday America! The three day weekend provides lots of time for celebrating, cookouts and, of course, gardening. Here are some things to do in July. The summer drought is here. Water in the morning and water deep. Just wetting the soil is not enough. Water needs to soak deep to encourage deep root growth. Spot treat broadleaf weeds (i.e. clover, dandelion, plantain) in your lawn.

June Stuff To Do

Summer is here and the livin’ is easy. But that does not mean there are not chores to get done. Here is a list of Stuff To Do in June. Pinch out the flower buds of fall bloomers like asters and mums to keep the plants full and bushy, and to prevent early flowering. There will be periods of drought so keep those plants watered.
