An Army Of Landscapers Unite To Serve

Arlington National CemeteryWhat happens when 600 landscape professionals show up in one place? A lot of work gets done is the answer.

This week marked the 23rd annuals National Association of Landscape Professionals Renewal & Remembrance at Arlington National Cemetery and yes, we had over 600 volunteers! Even more amazingly, we have representation from 23 states working together for a very worthwhile purpose.

Allentuck Landscaping Co. had a team of five on hand. We participated in the paving project, replacing broken up flagstone, as well as in the children’s project, teaching the next generation of landscape professionals the importance of giving back.

Arlington National CemeteryThe day started with an inspirational opening ceremony honoring the service men and women who are buried at Arlington. Retired Colonel Andrea Stahl moved all of us with stories of her career and commitment to service.

Afterwards, it was off to work as our arm set off to core aerate and apply lime to the turf, improve the irrigation system to more efficiently provide water to the landscape, install lightning protection to preserve the majestic trees on sight, replaced old and damaged paving, and planted native plants to continue the ever-growing landscape.

“Renewal & Remembrance is an opportunity to help care for the most important piece of land in the United States”, remarked our company President Bruce Allentuck to a camera crew from television station Fox5.

Planning is already underway to plan next year’s event and we cannot wait.
